Welcome to the York County Conservation Alliance ( YCCA) website.The Alliance is comprised of representatives from
York County organizations involved with land conservation ; environment/waterways ; agricultural land preservation ;
historic site and building preservation ; and recreation interests in the county. Formed in 2007, it provides an organization
for those groups dedicated to the preservation of green space ; agricultural land; and historic structures. All groups related
to these issues are encouraged to provide a representative to the quarterly held meetings. A data base for interested volunteers
is also provided within this website.
BENEFITS OF ALLIANCE
MEMBERSHIP:
1/ Improved networking among members of the Alliance regarding conservation, preservation, environmental
, recreational issues in the County when these arise.
2/ Helping member organizations identify common concerns
and issues between those groups and where appropriate , encouraging working together on issues that come up.
3/ Linking
groups on issues they have in common with other groups , and
encouraging groups to update their members in a timely
manner.
4/Identify land that comes up for sale , that could be preserved , such as the Farmland Trust, and Clean
and Green programs , and investigating sources of funding for those efforts as well as support for those efforts.
5/Investigate the need for improved community awareness of conservation efforts now on going in the county related to land
, streams, rivers. The members of the Alliance , with their combined memberships could act as a conduit for information to
those concerned about the changes to the county that effect their individual organizations.
6/ Provide a
central source for information regarding conservation/environmental issues that should and could be addressed- input from
members would keep this updated.
7/ the Alliance will develop
a database of various activities for volunteer participation , and members will provide information on how they might use
volunteers for their organization ; specific skills needed ; contacts with phone or email addresses.
